Music

Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. At All Saints, our high quality music education is designed to engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.

Curriculum

The planned curriculum provides practical learning experiences that are based on a progression of skills. It includes opportunities for children to participate in various types of music and perform their work.  (Please see Music Curriculum page)

Extra-Curricular Opportunities

A wide range of high quality extra-curricular musical activities enriches our curriculum. These include our annual outing to Young Voices, orchestra and a choir along with other exciting opportunities to perform at community events throughout the year.

Singing

Our choir, which currently has 140 children attending, have recently sung at a range of community events including the Hampshire Music Service ‘My Voice, Our Song’ concert, the Fleet Lions Christmas Carol Concert, Fleet Christmas Festivities and the Christmas Tree Festival at St Philips and St James’ Church. Alongside this, Year 5 classes have been carol singing at local residential homes.

Orchestra

The school orchestra rehearses regularly on a Monday morning under the competent baton of Mrs Fielden. This provides an amazing opportunity for instrumentalists to develop their musicality as well as their social skills and work with other children within our school community. In recent years, the orchestra have performed with the Deane Symphonia, who provide fantastic role models and inspiration as well as participating in the Winchfield Project where they perform with other children from schools in the local area.

School

Our dedicated peripatetic teachers (see Music Lessons), often organise ‘mini concerts’ where the children perform to the office staff, during assemblies and in classrooms. During the summer term, our Summer Concert was well supported by the instrumental team, where over 100 children were able to perform to their parents and friends.

Being a Church of England School, the whole school participate in our Harvest and Christmas services at All Saints Church. The acoustics really enhance the singing and provide a special experience for every child.
